Make do and Mend Workshops

Got a favourite pair of jeans that needs a little TLC? Breathe new life into old clothes by mending or decorating them with basic embroidery stitches. Bring in an old pair of jeans or an item of sentimental value that needs a repair. No previous experience necessary. For ages 9 and up.

Inspired by Tiffany Howe’s exhibition Salvaged Remnants, on display at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery from February 1 – 29. Howe uses recycled denim and other materials to make multimedia artwork.

Led by two local crafters, Shannon Quigley and Nadine Papp. Together we will explore how darning, sashiko and patches have been used to fix clothing and how handmade touches add special meaning to everyday items.

Time: Drop in 10am – 3pm.
Tickets: By donation
Location: Welch Room, Minden Hills Cultural Centre
Ages 9 and up
Materials provided for patching and practicing.
Bring your own garments to work on.

***Updated to add: Please find images from both workshops below. Thank you to everyone who came out!***
